3. Autotroph

an example of an autotroph. Autotrophs are organisms that produce their own
food using either sunlight or chemical energy. Examples of autotrophs include plants, algae, and some bacteria. The pictured tomato is a plant that uses
light energy through photosynthesis to produce glucose. The chlorophyll, which
is where photosynthesis takes place, makes the tomato plant’s leaves green; this is why all green plants are autotrophs.
